Construct & analyze karyotypes

Expose your class to the most current clinical diagnostic techniques. Using the supplied chromosome spreads, identify pairs of homologous chromosomes and construct a karyotype. Students will identify pairs of chromosomes by their length, centromere position and banding pattern to determine the sex of the individual and identify genetic disorders such as Down Syndrome or Turner's Syndrome.
