Learn how elements can be identified using flames

When compounds of certain metallic elements are heated over a flame, they provide distinctive colors. Using the included spectroscopes, students will observe and record the various colors rendered by the presence of metallic elements and relate their results to known standards. Using this process, they will identify several unknown elements from the samples provided.
