Use a potometer that students assemble to accurately measure water loss in plants

Your class will apply their knowledge of water potential, learned in AP Lab #1, to the movement of water within a plant. The students will assemble a potometer and use it to measure transpiration under various environmental conditions. They'll also prepare microscope slides of thin sections of a stem to study its organization and identify the structures used by plants to transport water and nutrients throughout the body of the plant. The investigation includes a unique hand microtome that can be used to prepare slides of thin sections of the stem.
