This allows students to become involved in testing chemical properties of 7 different substances.  The students combine 7 different solutions in every possible combination and identify chemical properties by observing their reaction with other solutions. Chemical reactions that will be observed are gas production, color changes, and formation of precipitates. After becoming familiar with the chemical properties of the solutions, students use their information to identify 4 unknown solutions. The kit contains terms sheets, an activity sheet, laboratory exercises, a crossword puzzle, and a test. The activity sheets introduce the chemical solutions for polyatomic ions (radicals). The laboratory exercises focus on using chemical properties as a means of identifying unknown solutions.
