This is an excellent robot for beginners.  It can climb across a string stretched from tree to tree or can skip along the ground.  After a programmed amount of time it will appear to sleep, but will wake up with a loud noise and start to walk or climb again for a pre-set amount of time, then wait for its next command.  This teaches basic priciples of robotic sensing and locomotion.
