This kit lets students discover physical properties for 14 different substances. Students observe the color and state of matter for all 14. The students test the liquids for the presence of an odor and observe the texture of the solids. The acidity or alkalinity of the liquids is tested.  Students get the opportunity to calculate density.

 This kit contains term sheets, activity sheets, laboratory exercises, a crossword puzzle and a test. The activity sheets introduce the chemical symbols for elements and chemical formulas for compounds.
