This kit will illustrate the techniques employed by Frederick Sanger, whose methods won him two Nobel Prizes for primary structure work in protein and nucleic acid chemistry. The experiments in this kit will enable the students to use techniques for determination of amino acid content and composition, and for the identification of N-terminal and C-terminal residue. In carrying out these experiments, the student will determine the amino acid sequence of a tripetide isolated from a protein hydrosate. The kit provides the means for the identification of the tripetide, ArginylGlyclPhenylalanine. |
